Tryphon –

Tryphon is a developing software, with few resources to develop with, and so all donations are welcomed wholly. Although, the main currency we hope to receive in return for the software being free is your opinion, and how we can improve to make it a better software for you all.

How it works

Extraction

We utilise a python based code which develops upon the Autodesk open-source classes of the Ezdxf libary. With this we develop data frames of all entities in the model space and their vertices, and progress to use the tetrahedron method to estimate the volume of entities, and triangulation method to estimate the surface area. Otherwise, the dimensions represent the bounding box of the entity in the model space.

Data usage

The software in no fashion modifies, or edits your input DXF CAD files. Also, it doesn’t send any information to an external platform, other than requests to relevant web sources. For live cost data of products, we have a variety of resources utilised for being able to obtain live cost information of products. With our live cost data system, we can always add new products, on request from users.

Limitations

Unfortunately, processing times are the number one issue facing Tryphon. Loading the live cost data can take several minutes. Additionally, with the robust extraction process the software utilises, processing times can be extensive dependant on DXF CAD files. We recommend avoiding complex entities, and entities such as 3D letters/words. We hope to implement a server to reduce processing times.
